THERAPY IN RALEIGH, NC

Autumn Cooper, LCSW (she/her): Owner/Adults Therapist

My name is Autumn Cooper (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I specialize in supporting folks healing from relational abuse and trauma in parental, partner, and religious contexts, queer and neurodiversity folks, and folks navigating anorexia, bulimia, and restrictive eating through a health at every size lens. Relational abuse is often subtle, chronic, and confusing. It can look like gaslighting, spiritual manipulation, coercive control, emotional neglect, or being cast into rigid roles within the family, romantic, or religious system. Many of the clients I work with grew up in environments where love was conditional, obedience was equated with worthiness, and autonomy was discouraged or punished. These early dynamics often leave lasting imprints on self-trust, boundaries, sexuality, identity, and relational dynamics that can lead to unhelpful patterns that are often rooted in deeper emotional pain, perfectionism, trauma, anxiety, or a need for safety and stability.

My practice is grounded in an intersectional, queer-affirming and neurodiversity-affirming lens. Chronic misunderstanding, masking, or identity-based shame can intensify attachment wounds and increase susceptibility to emotionally immature or controlling partners. Therapy becomes a space where your identity is affirmed and your experience is believed.

I approach this work through an eclectic model, utilizing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), somatic techniques, Attachment Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work with individual adults (specifically women, nonbinary, and trans folx) ages 18+. I am in network with Aetna, BCBS, Medcost, Cigna, and United.
